Think Treasure Island is some forgotten wilderness, formerly occupied by the U.S. Navy? That it’s some stagnant piece of odd real estate resurrected from the bottom of the Bay?
Well, it’s high time to re-think all that! Lying quietly in the middle of the bay, between San Francisco and Oakland, Treasure Island will soon be garnished with: beautiful high rise buildings that house up to 13,000+ new residents, a 20 acre organic farm and a host of other amenities that will bring a sense of life and excitement to the region.
The Island has seen years of on-again off-again activity starting with a bright beginning with the World’s Fairs of 1939-40, funneling American troops out to the Pacific during WWII, followed by the hustle and bustle of being a U.S. Naval outpost and training facility for the past half a century. Now, it steps into a prosperous future with the City of San Francisco backing the Treasure Island Redevelopment Plan.
When walking on the Island, one gets the impression that something great happened to create it and something new is about to happen.
The Island is ready for a bright future. The Island has invited it.

TREASURE ISLAND DEVELOPMENT
In many ways, you could say that the spirit of the 1939-40 World’s Fair is being resurrected through this new Development Plan. The Golden Gate International Exposition, as it was formally known, represented a new era in technology, and a celebration of mankind’s worldly achievements. Now, more than half a century later, green technology and progressive building plans are dictating the future of Treasure Island. Indeed, the Treasure Island Redevelopment Plan is speculated to be the most environmentally-sustainable large development project in United States history.
It truly will be “Back to the Future on Treasure Island”.
